LINDSAY MACLEAN
BSW MSW RSW

Life often presents us with unexpected transitions and challenges. Dealing with ongoing stress can leave us exhausted, leaving little energy for the things that truly matter. Don’t let stress take any more from you. I can help you find the tools to manage daily stressors, allowing you to take control of your well-being and move forward!

I have volunteered as a firefighter for several years. Being a female in a male-dominated field has significantly shaped my perspective. I have deep respect for the culture of public safety and the challenges that come with it. Additionally, as the spouse of a CAF veteran (Infantry, 1RCR), I have over 20 years of experience navigating military and veteran support and well-being programs. I can appreciate that balancing home life and work responsibilities can be tricky! I have learned this firsthand as the mother of two boys who shared this journey with us.

I have a strong background in anxiety, stress management, grief and bereavement, post-traumatic stress, and operational stress injuries experienced by public safety personnel (such as military members, corrections staff, firefighters, and other first responders) and their families. As a Registered Social Worker, I have gained experience in various areas, including providing grief and bereavement support at a palliative care center. I have supported women experiencing conflict with the law within the Canadian justice system. I have also assisted ill or injured members of the Canadian Armed Forces, CAF veterans, and their families at an on-base transition/release center and Military Family Resource Centre. I have also been honoured with the spirit of the military family coin for support and advocacy of military families.

Currently, I enjoy supporting individuals, couples and those in need of critical incident stress management groups through my private practice, Innate Renewal. In addition to my practice, I am a mental health practitioner for Greenshield as well as a member of their critical incident/ post-trauma response network. I also support Atlas Institutes as a member of their Cadre program and supporting their Neurofeedback Implementation Project as a veteran family member.

Since everyone’s mental health is unique, my approach is client-centred and focused on your specific needs during this time in your life. I am trained in cognitive behavioural therapy which is based on the idea that our thoughts influence our emotions and affect our behaviours. We will work together to identify thoughts that may be holding you back from living the fulfilling life you deserve!

Most importantly, I emphasize positive psychology (strengths, well-being and mindfulness). We will incorporate tools and techniques that work with you and align with your natural strengths while focusing on your well-being and mindfulness!
