Couples Counselling
If you are facing challenges in your most important relationship, addressing these issues may not always be straightforward.
Couples therapy can help you align with each other, identify the sources of conflict, and effectively work through your challenges.
What Couples Counselling Involves
Couples counselling often focuses on specific concerns or obstacles within the relationship. The role of the counsellor is to provide support, assistance, and techniques to resolve these concerns.
How It Works
My preferred approach begins with an initial meeting with both of you together, followed by separate individual sessions for each of you, but only once. After these initial individual meetings, we will resume our sessions as a couple. The purpose of the individual sessions is for me to understand each of your needs and requirements before we begin couples counselling. For instance, there may be instances where my understanding of your situation goes beyond what I can effectively address in couples counselling. If that happens, I will provide appropriate recommendations to support those needs.
Benefits of Couples Counselling:
Improved Communication:
Couples therapy creates a
safe space to learn how to effectively communicate your needs, concerns, and emotions.
Understanding Different Communication Styles
Counselling can help couples understand each other's communication styles and how to adapt to them.
Conflict Resolution
Support can enable couples to identify recurring conflict patterns and develop healthy strategies for resolving disagreements. You may learn to approach conflicts more constructively to find mutually beneficial solutions.
Managing Difficult Emotions
Couples counselling helps manage strong emotions during conflicts and prevents escalation.
